Why I Created a Space for Neurodivergent Women Practice Owners
Sep 01, 2025
When I started my own therapy practice, I thought I was chasing freedom. No more agency rules. No more productivity quotas. No more supervisors breathing down my neck. Just me, my clients, and the vision I’d carried for years.
But the truth? Freedom came with a stack of progress notes that seemed to grow taller every week. Marketing felt like trying to shout into a crowded room where no one was listening. Payroll and QuickBooks would send me into full shutdown mode. And I found myself exhausted, questioning if maybe I just wasn’t cut out for this.
Sound familiar?
If you’re a neurodivergent woman running your own therapy practice, you probably know exactly what I mean.
The part nobody tells us
We hear all the time: “Just be more consistent. Just batch your tasks. Just push through.”
But here’s the thing: our brains weren’t built for the hustle-hard, assembly-line version of business ownership.
We might hyperfocus on clients and then struggle to transition into admin mode.
We might procrastinate on notes, not because we don’t care — but because our nervous systems freeze under pressure.
We might feel like we’re the only ones drowning in emails and overwhelmed by marketing when, in reality, we’re trying to fit into systems designed for neurotypical brains.
And when the advice doesn’t work, shame creeps in. We start to believe the lie that we’re the problem.
We’re not.
The turning point
For me, things shifted after my own AuDHD diagnosis. Suddenly, all those moments of “why can’t I just…?” made sense. I wasn’t lazy. I wasn’t bad at business. My brain just works differently.
What I really needed wasn’t more hustle, but:
Community with women who understand what it’s like to run a practice while navigating neurodivergence.
Accountability that feels supportive, not shaming.
Practical tools designed for our brains — not someone else’s.
A community that actually fits
That’s why I created the NeuroNurture Therapist Network. It’s a private, neuro-affirming membership for women therapists who own their own practices. A space where you can:
Work alongside others in live body-doubling sessions (goodbye, lonely note-writing).
Join monthly workshops that are short, digestible, and actually doable.
Sit in peer roundtables where masking isn’t required, and you don’t have to over-explain yourself.
Access a resource library of ND-friendly templates + checklists to save you time and energy.
Most importantly → belong.
Because the truth is: we were never meant to do this alone.
This September, I’m opening the doors for Founding Members. Here’s the gift: when you join before Sept 30, you’ll get 6 months for $222 (that’s $37/month instead of $47). And you’ll keep that lower rate as long as you stay.
On October 1, we officially launch — with our first co-working session, a “Start Here” welcome space, and our opening workshop on Documentation Hacks for the ND Brain.
If you’ve been craving a space where your neurodivergent brain is not only welcomed but celebrated… this is for you.
Join the NeuroNurture Therapist Network — Founding Member Offer Ends Sept 30.
With care & excitement,
Dawn 🌸
